Korean Glasses to Give you 20/20 Vision… of the Future

A recent announcement from ETRI or Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute in Korea may put fortune tellers out of their jobs. The institute is working to develop a pair of glasses that will predict your future. More specifically, your future behavior.

Theses are a more advanced version of the smart glasses introduced at Google’s I/O conference in the late June. ETRI’s glasses collect a wearer’s past behavioral data and make informed predictions as to how and what the wearer will do in the future.

For example, based on the collected data, it will tell you what you will have for lunch on Wednesday next week or give you your most preferred business trip schedule when given the final destination.

The research center believes that these specs will be very useful for the advertising and marketing industries, collecting data about what people look at as they walk through their daily lives. Advertisers will then be able to place promotional messages and ads in the optimum locations.

ETRI plans on collecting and analyzing people’s lifestyle patterns through 2019 to complete its future-predicting algorithm. Should they successfully commercialize this technology, it will be bye bye to madame Kim the fortune teller.
