At the Herb Astronomy Park in Gangdong, Seoul!

This park is the first of its kind in Korea. As its name implies, it is an interesting combination of two elements of science – herbology and astronomy.

The park is located at Mt. Ilja and consists of an herb garden, a medicinal plant garden, a rock garden and more. In the herb garden, there are approximately 41,586 herbs of 167 kinds, spanning over 9,900 square meters (2.5 acres). The greenhouse has 120 kinds of herbs, which visitors can enjoy even in the winter.

In regards to astronomy, there are two observation decks on the east and west sides of the park, to watch the sunrise and sunset. At night, the floor, which is very soft and feels like stepping onto a manicured putting green, lights up, mirroring the stars in the sky and representing a total of 282 constellations! On the flipside, when you look up, the park offers one of the best star-gazing views in Seoul.

The Herb Astronomy Park is not only great for flower lovers and star admirers, but it’s also a nice place to have a picnic or get in some leisurely exercise.

The video clip below gives you a short and simple view of the park. Enjoy!
