Korea’s top 10 Designers come together!

We’ve introduced you to some of Korea’s best known designers like Lie Sang Bong and Choi Bumsuk. Today I want to share exciting news about how 10 hip Korean designers collaborated on a project called 2012 Seoul’s 10 Soul. This project, sponsored by the Korean government, aims to increase exposure of Korean design to the world.

Seoul’s 10 Seoul has been held as an annual event for the past two years but now it’s transforming from an ad hoc event into a long-term project. The designers will receivelong term support and have the freedom to be more creative. While some of the participating designers, like Choi Bumsuk and Steve J & Yoni P, are well known, many others are new rising stars looking to break into foreign markets, especially Europe.

These designers will participate in Paris Fashion Week and showcase their work at government-funded showrooms in Paris and Milan. Designers will also benefit from access to marketing, public relations and sales strategy consultants, helping strengthen their labels.

Below are some of the designs from Steve J & Yoni P and Lee Suk-tae. I am excited to see these fabulous designs winning the hearts of Europeans!

About the author by Sophie Choi

Born in Korea and raised on three different continents, I have always been enthusiastic to share the uniqueness of Korean culture and design. On top of that, the advanced level of Korean technology makes me proud to call myself Korean and motivates me to spread technology related news to more people around the world. The list of things I like (and like to do) is endless: Shopping, Gummy jellies, Lilies... and it goes on

This is great. I was in Korea for the 1st time in March for a few weeks in a cross culture/ vocation study. I am a designer and I cannot tell you how much of a privilege it was to experience the design/art/technology/culture. I look forward to see what they come up with.
