Seoul Skyscraper Series: Block H
The Yongsan International Business District (YIBD) is shaping up to be Asia’s go-to spot to find cutting-edge design and architecture. With high demand for top-quality office space, housing, entertainment and shopping in Seoul, developers are eager to get into Yongsan. In addition to plans for the second tallest building in the world, Triple One, international architecture firm Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates recently presented its plans for an impressive building called Block H.

The building is to stand 385 meters tall and will consist of a luxury 5-star hotel, casino, restaurants, high-end serviced residential units, spa, retail stores and more.

The architects designed Block H to imitate the organic growth of a crystal. The building branches out from the center into three asymmetric wings for better light and views. The low-wing stretches out toward the Han River, the mid-wing to Yongsan Park and the high-wing to the Nam-San historic district. These wings give residential apartments especially good views while still maximizing privacy from the adjacent unit.

Additionally, one of these wings will have a really snazzy infinity pool that will appear as if it hangs over the edge of the building.

The Block H is expected to be completed in 2016.
